PRLog (Press Release) – Trashing the Dress – An international craze for Photographers who dare to step out of the norm. Feb 03, 2014 – Playa Tamarindo, Guanacaste, Costa Rica – Costa Rica – February 3rd, 2014
Toh Gouttenoire, a professional photographer living in Central America since 2000, located in Playa Tamarindo, Guanacaste, Costa Rica is rocking the frock and becoming well known for his stylish photography, embracing the Trash the Dress phenomenon.
Trash the Dress is a style of wedding photography that contrasts elegant clothing with an environment in which it is out of context. It is usually shot in the style of fashion or glamour photography in natural locations like the beach, forest or even mangrove swamps.
The name itself brings to mind visions of something different to the somewhat posed and conservative images of traditional wedding photography. It conjures up exciting, sensual and interesting shots of a post wedding coitus – more personal and relaxed; enabling the photographer to capture the newlywed couples in a sequence of compelling poses amidst enchanting locations.
According to Photographer, Toh “In the last few years as the “Trash the dress” style slowly became all fashionable in wedding photography all over the world, Costa Rica made no exception. I decided to give it my twist, since then I have been shooting a lot of these, becoming the specialist of that style in Costa Rica.”
Toh is definitely becoming a specialist in this field, so much so that he has been filmed for the French TV show “50 minute inside” (TF1).
Toh also featured in another TV program on TF1 called “Reportages” about Happy and Successful French people in Costa Rica: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/51317432/CostaRica.m4v
Toh had this to say about Trash the Dress “Let’s get clear here the point is not to destroy the dress but is not to restrain in getting it wet or dirty to get spectacular shots…I really enjoy shooting these moments, all the creativity that flows, the relaxing relations we have with the couples and the amazing results we obtain.. The fact that we have beautiful beaches, dusty roads, beautiful fields and dark mangroves helps a lot…”
Costa Rica is certainly a great location for this phenomenon, as witnessed by the thousands of images found on Toh’s website http://www.wedding-costarica.com/?/page/3242/trash-the-dress/ However this stylistic approach is not strictly limited to Costa Rica, for Toh has travelled to Panama, Mexico and New York.
