Toh Gouttenoire is a dedicated professional photographer as well as the founder and owner of Bidrop Images, established in 2005 in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. With a decades-long career spanning across continents and countries, his expertise extends across editorial assignements, real estate, family and portrait photography, a variety of corporate projects, and creative photoshoots.
Originally from France, Toh pursued his appreciation for visual arts at a school of applied arts before specializing in images and camera work for two years at a school of cinematography. Early on, he contributed to multiple movie productions and art installations through the use of both Super 8mm film and photography. His love for travel and adventure eventually led him to Central America, where he spent three years in Guatemala. He worked as a freelance photographer in the area, always out to get the most interesting shots and notably covering the Marcha Zapatista in Mexico in 2001.
After relocating to Tamarindo, Toh founded Bidrop Comunicacion SA to provide graphic design, web design, photography, and video production services. His business became popular in the region, leading to collaborations with all major hotels and real estate firms of the zone as well as publications such as Tico Times, Tamarindo News, and Nature Air Magazine. His attention to detail and storytelling have also earned him contracts with The New York Times, where he has been a freelance contributor since 2015, taking on assignments in Costa Rica, Panama, and Colombia.
Toh also started exhibiting in 2025 large prints of a serie called Pixels at Galleria Sol in the Tamarindo area.
With 25 years in Costa Rica, he is now in the final stretch of obtaining his Costa Rican citizenship, a testament to his commitment to the country and his craft.
